Since 2020, she is the President and CEO of the animation studio [Science SARU](https://anilist.co/studio/6145/), which she co-founded with [Masaaki Yuasa](https://anilist.co/staff/100068/) in 2013. A frequent collaborator with Yuasa, she has been involved in all of his projects since _[Kemonozume](https://anilist.co/anime/1454/)_ (2006). Choi began her career as an animator on shows such as _[Witchblade](https://anilist.co/anime/935/)_, _[Black Lagoon](https://anilist.co/anime/889/)_ and _Kemonozume_ (all 2006). She made her directorial debut in 2008 on episodes of _[Kaiba](https://anilist.co/anime/3701/)_, and later worked as assistant director on _[Kick-Heart](https://anilist.co/anime/16149/)_ (2013). Choi transitioned to producer in 2017, beginning with _[The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl](https://anilist.co/anime/97917/)_.
